How to Install Lightroom Presets

In this post, you’ll learn how to install Lightroom presets on any version such as Classic, Mobile & Old versions (4, 5, & 6). Installing presets on Lightroom Desktop is easy-peasy but on other hand with Lightroom mobile is a tedious task.

Most people prefer to use Lightroom Mobile because it is free and one can easily edit their photos on the go using their mobile devices. Also, this tutorial will show you how to use Lightroom presets in the Adobe Camera Raw Filter. Let’s get into it.

Installing Presets in Lightroom Mobile – iPhone Users (Apple Devices)

Installing presets on Lightroom Mobile is a hassle and it is not easy to import presets. Please follow the steps mentioned below carefully to import presets in the Lightroom Mobile app.

Step 1 – Extract The presets

Download the zip preset file to your iPhone. Once it is downloaded, simple press on the zip file to extract the content. Inside the extracted folder, you’ll find the DNGs files which contains our presets. You can also use iZip App to extract zip files.

Step 2 – Open the Lightroom Mobile App & Create A New Album

Once you have unzipp the files onto your photo, open the Lightroom Mobile App. In your library, click on the (+) icon & Choose Album.

You want to name this album the name of the preset pack “PSD Stack Moody”

Step 3 – Add Presets to the Lightroom Mobile App

Open the Album, press on the Add Button in the bottom right hand corner & choose From Files.

Navigate to the folder on your phone where you the DNGs, select all of them and press open. This will add all the dngs file to the album that we created in the second step.

Step 4 – Create Presets From DNGs Files

Now we’ll create our presets from these DNGs. Open any of the DNGs up, press on the three button in the top right corner and choose “Create Preset”

Name your presets. Create a new preset group and name it after your preset pack such as PSD Stack Moody

Step 5 – Apply The Presets

In order to apply the presets to your image, open up an image and scroll over to the Presets.

You’ll see all of your saved preset here.

Simple press on the preset to apply it your image.

How to Install Presets in Lightroom Classic – Supported Format .XMP

Step 1 – Download Your Premium Presets From PSD Stack

Download your presets from PSD Stack. You can get all of our 19 presets collections with The Master Collection Preset Bundle.

Please ensure that the file is not unzipped. You should import a zipped file into Lightroom, not a folder to save time.

Step 2 – Go To The Develop Module

Select the Develop module on the top right of the screen. Make sure you have imported a photo in Lightroom and then access the Develop Module.

Step 3 – Click on The Import Presets

Look for the Presets Panel, click on the small (+) icon next to it and then click on the Import Presets button from the drop-down menu.

Step 4 – Navigate To The Zipped Presets

Navigate to the folder where you saved the zipped file and select it to import the presets. Hit the Import Button at the right bottom of your screen to complete the process.

Step 5 – Your Presets Are Ready

Here you can see your presets have been imported, you’ll see a folder of the imported presets as shown below. Click on any preset to apply the looks instantly. If you didn’t see any folder for your imported preset, then chances are it might be under the User Presets folder.


How to Install lightroom Presets in Lightroom Mobile (Android Users)

Lightroom mobile can quickly install presets without extracting the presets. You don’t need to unzip or extract the files to install presets. All of our presets comes with ZIP format and can be easily installed in seconds.

Note: Make sure that do not unzip presets when following the below mentioned steps.

Step 1 – Select a Photo & Head Over to Presets

Open the Lightroom Mobile App and then select a photo to edit, swipe left on the bottom options until you see “Presets” and tap on that option.

Step 2 – Import Presets

Click on the 3 dots icons and then you’ll have an option “Import Presets”.

Click on Import Presets:

Step 3 – Navigate To The Zipped Presets

Now locate the presets on your mobile to import them.

Select the zip file of the presets as I did below.

Then Hit the open button on your mobile device to import the presets.

Note: Make sure you are installing .DNG presets in Lightroom presets Mobile. Otherwise, you might not able to install the presets.

Step 4 – Your Presets Are Ready

Tap on the collection name to select the newly installed Presets. Click through the presets until you find the one that you like.

How to Install Presets in Old Lightroom Versions – Supported Format .LRTEMPLATE

Installing presets in old Lightroom versions is pretty much the same but we are going to keep the process clean and it will help you organize your presets in a neat way.

Step 1 – Select The Develop Module

Select the Develop module on the top right of your screen after you have imported and select a photo to work with.

Step 2 – Create A New Folder For Presets

On the left of the screen, under the Presets Tabright-click inside the Presets Tab & select New Folder.

Step 3 – Give A Name To The Folder (lightroom preset)

Give a name to the folder such as I did “PSD Stack Free Matte Presets” as you can see in the image below.

Hit ok, you’ll see a new folder ready to import your presets.

Step 4 – Import Presets

Select the new folder and right click on it and then click on the Import Presets button.

Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the presets, select all the presets (.lrtemplate files) from there to import them by clicking on the Import Button at the right bottom of the screen.

Step 5 – Your Presets Are Ready

Here you can see that we have imported the presets in Lightroom 6. You should see your presets right under the folder and click on them to apply looks to your images.


How to Use Presets in Photoshop – Supported Format .XMP

You can also use presets in Photoshop as well. Photoshop’s Camera Raw Filter allows you to use Lightroom presets in the same way as Lightroom.

Step 1 – Open The Camera Filter

Go to Filter > Camera Raw Filter and open this filter.

Step 2 – Load Presets/Settings

Click on the 3 dots icon and then click on the Load Settings Button

Step 3 – Open Presets

Open the presets that you want to use from your computer and then click on the Open button to apply the presets to photos.

Step 4 – Apply Presets

The preset has been applied in Photoshop and you can further refine it using the Camera Raw Filter.

Also, if you have Lightroom Subscription & you already have presets imported in Lightroom Classic, you can find all the presets under the Presets Button in the Camera Raw. Click on the Presets Button and you’ll see all the presets that you already have in Lightroom.
